Salmon Developments and Aker have completed work on a £3.5 million project to create London’s first drive-thru Starbucks and the UK’s biggest drive-thru KFC.
The scheme on the Bath Road, near Heathrow Airport in west London comprises a total of 6,500sq ft of space with parking for 48 cars and is leased by Eurogarages, a franchise operator and KFC (GB) Ltd, for 20 years at a combined rent of £215,000 a year.
The 2,000sq ft Starbucks outlet is the first drive-thru opened by the international coffee chain operator in London, and its 11th in the UK. The building was designed by the chain with a modern style that it plans to roll out as it grows to 150 drive-thrus in the UK. Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz is due to visit the Heathrow outlet on 10 September.
Opening alongside Starbucks, the 4,500sq ft KFC restaurant is the chain’s biggest drive-thru in the UK, with capacity for 172 diners. The fried chicken chain has also deployed a more modern style in its unit, using a purple and grey palette alongside its traditional red and white.
The stores anticipate serving 15,000 customers a week and have created 49 jobs.
